So Where Can I Go?
The quick answer is “wherever you want!” It all depends on how long you want to hire for. We recommend using https://canalplan.uk to help you plan your routes. Here are some recommendations:
One Month Hire….
You can chose to take it easy; to relax and discover the beautiful Oxford and Ashby Canals with perhaps a visit to Warwick, or simply head for Shakespeare Country taking in Oxford, Warwick and Stratford on Avon. Or you could head onto the River Thames and see all the sights right down to Windsor Castle and Hampton Court, perhaps venturing on to the tranquil River Wey to the southernmost tip of our inland waterways at Godalming before returning. If you’re energetic you could cruise the Thames Ring including the Oxford and Grand Union Canals together with the River Thames all the way from West London up to Oxford….or even to the head of navigation at Lechlade.
Two Months….
Cruise around one of the famous Midlands cruising “Rings” – the Warwick Ring or the Leicester Ring – or even the Four Counties Ring. Head south and west to discover the Thames and the world famous Kennet and Avon Canal all the way to Bath or even Bristol. Voyage north to reach the famous Llangollen Canal – or venture into the Peak District.
Three Months…
You could discover the northernmost points of our system such as the Leeds and Liverpool Canal… or explore much of the waterways of the midlands or southern England…
Nine months… or Longer
We often have narrowboats booked for more than 8 months, travelling all over the connected canals and rivers of England and Wales Many of our hirers have taken a boat all over the system, reaching as far east as the tidal Trent, north to Manchester, into Wales and as far south as Guildford. Longer hires, especially from Autumn to late Spring can prove remarkably cost effective, avoiding the peak cruising months of May to September…
